Over half of Scotland’s distilleries are based in Speyside in Moray, but not all of them are open to the public.
The distillieries are the Benromach at Forres, Cardhu, Dallas Dhu, Glen Grant, Glen Moray, Glenfiddich, The Glenlivet, Strathisla and the Speyside cooperage at Dufftown.
High up in the headwaters of the River Findhorn the Tomatin Distillery is situated, which is purely a single malt distillery and classified as a Highland Malt Whisky. The Distillery was first opened in 1897 and takes its’ water from the Alt-Na-Frith Burn. For the enthusiastic single malt connoisseur a vist to the Tomatin Distillery is not to be missed!
