About Ian Neale
Ian Neale
Ian Neale has been a keen naturalist and bird watcher for most of his life, being particularly influenced by Gerald Durrell’s wonderful book, “My Family and Other Animals”! As a youngster he was always bringing home young orphan birds, animals and reptiles!
Ian hails from a farming background on the Essex/Suffolk border where he used to spend much of his childhood days either going to the weekly farmers market in Colchester with his father or chasing dace and roach on his local River Colne.
This countryside background set him on his way to becoming a passionate salmon and trout angler, as well as a keen observer of all things to do with wildlife! He revels in taking family and friends on wildlife tours around his now home in the beautiful county of Moray, which is home to so many incredible species of birdlife and wildlife. His closeness to the salmon and trout river environment offers so many opportunities to see wildlife and birdlife, close up and personal, at its very best!
However, Ian’s roots were born in Scotland as his mother was of Scottish origin being born in Perth as a Stewart. Therefore, Ian was drawn back to Scotland and the homeland of his forebears.
It is of no coincidence that Ian and his wife Barbara now reside on the Moray Estate at Darnaway, which is home to the Earl and Duchess of Moray and indeed the true home of the Stewarts.
